Our guide to booking your holiday to Greece in 2022

It may only be September, but it won't be long till the new year is on our doorstep, bringing with it the compelling question of where to go for your holidays in 2022. We have villas across the Mediterranean and beyond, but a favourite destination that always guarantees a fantastic holiday is Greece.

Common conceptions may conjure up images of sheep on dry hillsides with Doric columns in the distance, which can be easily found (if that's what you're looking for). Thankfully, there's a lot more to Greece than people expect. Whether you're visiting one of the thousands of islands or heading inland, you can come away with a feast of experiences, with each day different from the one before. However, there is a common theme when it comes to holidaying in Greece - a long list of happy memories.

Understandably if you haven't travelled abroad since 2019, you may be hesitant to jump on the first flight out to Athens, but with our guide on what to expect and how to best plan your time away, you'll look back fondly at your holiday to Greece in 2022 for years to come.

It's all Greek to me

First things first, when booking your holiday to Greece, where do you want to go? Admittedly, there are no wrong answers here but depending on who you're going with, how long you're going for and what you want to do (we'll get to that later), some destinations will be better suited for you than others.

For example, suppose you're looking for a family holiday with excellent access to beaches and plenty of child-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained; there's a good chance the nightlife of Mykonos might not appeal to you. Likewise, the family-friendly restaurants of Crete may not be what you're looking for if you want to enjoy a romantic couples holiday in Greece in 2022.

A little research goes a long way, but it's worth saying that many of the larger destinations cater to everyone, so you needn't worry about standing out like a sore thumb should you decide to visit a location for something other than what it's famous for.

Once you've found your destination, it's time to look where you want to stay. You can view our villas, their availability and the finer details here; much like picking the destination, part of choosing your villa centres around deciding what you want to be near. As the largest island, we find Crete often has a lot to offer in terms of variety, but all across the Aegean, we have a wide selection of villas, from those within walking distance to the beach to those that offer a more secluded setting further inland.

It could well be that there aren't any suitable villas for the destination and time of year you want to travel, so be prepared to be flexible, sometimes it can even be worth reconsidering which part of Greece you'd like to visit. To avoid finding yourself in a back and forth between picking a destination only to find the villas aren't available, it's generally better to book in advance, ensuring you get the ideal villa in the ideal location for your perfect 2022 holiday to Greece.

When in Rhodes...

Part of what makes Greece such a fantastic holiday destination is the abundance and variety of things to see and do while you're there. With something to suit every budget, interest, and age group, the limit only really lies with how much you can pack into your trip.

From exploring classical temples turned UNESCO heritage sites in Lindos, to dining at chic restaurants on the marina front in Rhodes Town - every destination has something in store. With each island proud of its unique traditions and history, it's also worth considering day trips further afield and exploring all Greece has to offer.
