Madeira is home to stunning Levada walks, found all over the island are these famous walking trails which run alongside open irrigation channels with different levels of difficulty for all abilities. These routes date back to the early 16th-century, when the Levadas were created to distribute water around the island, these waterways are still used today to move water across the island to reach populations and farms. Perhaps round off your exploring with an afternoon tea at Reids Palace or with a cocktail back at your villa with a private pool.
As Spring is in full bloom after Easter, Madeira holds a weekend-long flower festival full of parades, exhibitions, workshops and lots of colour.
