Pollensa’s narrow streets provide some interesting small shops and boutiques where you will find local crafts, jewellery, fashion, and leather goods.. Plaza Mayor is where the town’s heart beats. It is a spacious square full of terraces where you can enjoy a drink or bite to eat whilst watching the world go by. On Sundays the square plays host to the large open market. It is full of stalls laden with fresh local produce and gifts. Foodies will be in gourmet heaven should you dine at the excellent family run delicatessen Ensenyat.
Pollensa is a short drive away from the glorious sandy beaches of Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia. Here you can bask in the warm sunshine, or partake in some of the varied watersports that are on offer. Villa holidays in Pollensa can provide you with plenty of things to see and do.
The town has several places of interest to visit, including the Roman bridge, which is still in use. The bridge has been crucial for Pollensa inhabitants, because until the nineteenth Century it was the only safe way to cross the Torrente de Sant Jordi during high water. Outside the town is the Santuari del Puig de Maria, a modest 330m high mountain. At the top of the mountain sits the traditional sandstone built monastery and chapel. The chapel was constructed in 1348 with a monastery added 14 years later. The monastery still retains traditional decor with tiled floors and small windows, along with a magnificent dining room.

Puerto Pollensa, is an ideal place to visit whilst on a family villa holiday in Pollensa. The port, with its beaches, amenities, and interesting history, lies within easy reach of the old town. As well as water sports like canoeing, water bikes and paddle boarding, during the summer, Puerto Pollensa has its own little inflatable water playground for the kids. The neighbouring coastal town of Alcudia, is bigger and here you find the Hidropark water park, which is a great day out for all of the family.
After you have visited one of the nearby beaches and have tested out all the water sport facilities,you can explore some of the extensive explore countryside surrounding Pollensa, which is popular with cycling enthusiasts. There is a great variety of terrain that will suit almost every level of cyclist and if you head into the mountains there are climbs that attract Olympic level athletes. Head to the 9 hole Pollensa Golf Course and experience rolling fairways protected by trees, home to two of Mallorca’s longest holes.
Famed for its local produce, visit the award winning Ca'n Vidalet Vineyard. Set just outside of Pollensa, you can join a wine tasting tour to sample some of Mallorca’s best wines along with some of the local cheese and bread.
