Costa Cálida travel guide

Costa Cálida lies on the southeastern Mediterranean coast of Spain. This beautiful area is famed for having its own microclimate, meaning the weather is sunny and mild almost all year round and the presence of salt lakes and pine forest make it a perfect location to enjoy nature at its finest.

Whether you are seeking an idyllic romantic getaway, a family holiday to remember or a break with a group of friends, a villa holiday in Costa Cálida will create memories that last a lifetime.

Food and drink in Costa Cálida

The diverse range of cuisine available in Costa Calida is in a class of its own. Traditional dishes such as Caldero, a rice stew made with fish and served in a traditional clay pot is a must, while the hugely popular seafood dish Mar Menor Prawns can be enjoyed in most local restaurants. For those with a sweet tooth, no visit to the Costa Calida would be complete without sampling Paparajote, a traditional dessert made with lemon leaves, flour, eggs and sugar – you won’t be disappointed!

All these wonderful dishes can be paired with local wines from Jumilla and Yecla, renowned for their earthy, full-bodied, fruity flavours.

If you’re looking for vibrant bars, nightclubs and live music venues, The Plaza de las Flores and Plaza de Santo Domingo are the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail with friends or dance the night away. For a more relaxed evening, head to Cartagena, where you can enjoy a glass of wine at one of the many elegant bars in the historic city centre.
